Do Not Forget To Bring Your Original Passport

That is right! One of the students was dismissed form the exam due to this reason. could you imagine?

Thank you Khawla and Tony for the great feelings of yours and my wishes to all of "Ielts"candidates to pass the exam with the marks that they are willing to score, or even higher.

I forgot to mention two things which are:

1- Your application form that you filled on the day you registered for( Ielts) course will be placed on your chair, so DO NOT Panic! You are not required to bring any photos of yours. Bring only the passport.

2- The learning zone is a very vital element for making you " ready" for the exam.

As for the question "if i had any problems with the exam modules"? The answer : Who ever tried the learning zone modules and tried to practise the problems given in the associated books given to us for the course, in addition to "Web sites addresses given by Tony," will see that the exam will run similarly to these modules.
3- One day, 'Napoleon Bonapirt' been asked "Whom do you afraid of?". He answered: the EXAM.

I should not cite Napoleon's example as he was French. Perhaps Tony will cite with another English leader or an artist.

All the best.

Tony,

Iam going to the"British Club'' to workout and then will be watching the great match at 6:00 Pm. They have a big screen there.

Hi Firas

Thanks for your advice, yet again!

I-community19, ignore these golden words at your peril!

No problems with quoting old 'Boney' - I had referred to JF Kennedy's immortal words: "We have nothing to fear except fear itself".

The match was quite tense and certainly not a classic, was it? I'm glad Chelsea won, as I loathe Manchester United and I am from London (Watford is 30 kms north of London).

As I'm NOT posting any more on this website, I shall react to further posts from YOU who are now reading these words.

Come on, pull your fingers out!

Tony

Tony, mate,
It was really nice to see you in the club. Looking forward to see you again and again.
I will cite a 'say' from the Arabic poet and submit it to you my teacher, with many thanks and gratitute to all what you have done. " who ever taught me a word, will / can make me his slave all over my life." I guess that I translated the ' say'literally, but I hope you have got the meaning.
You are an endless source of Engulish vocabulary, but unfortunayelly Iam not able to write them down and tranlate them on the vocabulary sheet you gave us, because Iam currently busy to write the three narratives required by ' Engineers Australia' concerned to assess my former years of experience as an engineer, in order to be eligible for immigration. I promise you and my self to return back to these words posted herein very soon.
I read your post mentioning many fine words about me and my efforts. Iam really thankful and will do the best as I think Iam in love with this magnificent Language.
I enjoyed the yesterday's match as two great teams were playing but to tell you the truth Iam a 'Liverpole' fan since i was a kid. Unfortunatelly during the last years 'Liverpole'has not won the Priemier, but Iam sure he will. The secret behind my admiration to Liverpole that i was watching the guy from Wailze
'Ayan Ralsh' the 'Goals Hunter.'
So, Iam waiting the next match which will be held next Wednesday. Until then, take care and see you in the club and the next 'Blog'.

Hello Firas,

It is very kind to give us all these information. No doubt we have a hard exam ahead. We shall try our best. Now, back to Tony comments regarding our class, I believe Mr. Tony, your commnents are little bit unjust, I don't know what are your expectations from a group of people who are trying to juggle many jobs or things in one hand.

Nevertheless, I will say I enjoyed your lessons and I hope I can use at least fifty percent of your information and get good band, if GOD will.

Thanks for your continuous support and please do not give up.

Regards,
Maha

Cheers Firas for your magnanimous response and kind appreciation.

Sure, let's keep in touch. You're more likely to see me in the Club Library (of which I am the Secretary)than the Club gym!

Turning to Mme Maha:

"I believe Mr. Tony, your commnents are little bit unjust, I don't know what are your expectations from a group of people who are trying to juggle many jobs or things in one hand."

Either I am completely unjust or not - how can I be 'a little bit unjust'? Hmm, unjust or unfair? Yes, I expect a great deal young lady. I am judging you against 18 previous courses, some of whom had IELTS lessons EVERY DAY of the week with me, over a three week period! We are all struggling with work, family and the course - as I have remarked previously. So, for these four weeks, certain sacrifices have to be made, otherwise we would all opt for the easy, painless solution [which does not exist for IELTS].

"Thanks for your continuous support and please do not give up". Well, you have my support and fullest attention. After Wednesday 23 May, we shall all probably forget each other rather quickly, unless there are some exceptional students in this class.

As they say in French: "Il n'y a que la verite qui blesse".

In other words:

"Only truth hurts".

Did I hurt your feelings?

Mate,
magnanimous? Correct me if Iam wrong, ( magnanimous ) meaning quoted literally from ' cambridge Dictionar - 2nd edition ): very kind and generous towards an enemy or someone you have defeated. So we can say - also quoted from the above mentioned dictionary)- : Arsenal's manager was magnanimous in victory, and praised the losing team.
Can this word be used to praise someone who have not defeated any body?

Sincerely yours

Firas

Hello again Firas

See, non-bloggers / non-contributors, this is how it works and you keep in touch (or NOT) with your resident language expert.

Your 'problem', Firas, is that, as an engineer, you see everything literally. I was using 'magnanimous' in a METAPHORICAL sense. However, in some ways you are a victor - YOU have taken on and defeated IELTS. You have nobly offered to lead and advise the latest troops into battle - they need your leadership, believe me!

While we are at it, look up the opposite of 'magnanimous', i.e. the word PUSILLANIMOUS - this has no military connotations but is a very, very impressive word! As a Latin scholar, I personally do not shy away from such classical allusions.

Join me, my dear engineer, on our magical, mystery journey through the wonders of English! Just let your wings and imagination soar!

By the way, the mock test slew the class last night, Firas. How did the real IELTS compare with the three exams you did on that final Tuesday with me?

Best regards

Gotta dash to work ...

Will be watching the Reds tonight at a Moroccan friend's house near my home. I hope it doesn't go to extra time and penalties!!!

Slay = Slew = Slain ?
Connotations = Allusions ?
Rise = Soar ?

The mock test = The illusory test? or The illusional test?(Which one is right)?
PUSILLANIMOUS: I have not looked at it yet as i do not have the (cambridge dictionary) with me at work.

Impressive and brilliant. Now you know why I can not leave this 'rich' source of English vocabulary. How could I while Iam infront of the 'Master'here?

The listening test fluctuated between 'difficult' in the second passage; to become 'easy' in the first part of passage no.3; before turning back to become 'Difficult again' in the last part of passage no.3. In general this module ran almost with the same power as your test.
The reading was easy in the first two passages before turning to the 'Killer' story in passage no. three. The troops can be advised to read more and practise more readings for subjects related to the 'Mammals World/ Life'. I can say this module ran as the same or even easier for the first two passages but with more constration on ( TRUE, FALSE AND NOT GIVEN) questions for the whole Three passages.

The writing was easy and ran exactly similar to your test.

I have finished work and have to run to my home. I will get back to you after the big game betwwen the Reds and their opponents. Most likely to see it in the Club.

Cheers.
